Adam+Ashley - Indian Rock Park
Oh man. These two. They crack me up.
They took 30 minutes out of their busy time while back home visiting and allowed themselves to be subject to my camera. And WOW am I grateful for that. They knew I was just getting off the ground and even though I’m sure they could think of 472 things that sounded better than posing in front of a camera with “hat head and unkempt hair” (as Adam said), they did it anyway. Because that’s what these two will do for family.
Adam is a teacher who got his degree from Friends University in Wichita, KS and Ashley does ALL the things and also has a bachelor’s degree from Friends as well. They met through Singing Quakers where frisbee and their love of The Office was a huge part of the start of their friendship. Which apparently was DEFINITELY just a friendship in the beginning and neither wanted anything else. They bonded over lost relationships and each became a support to the other. And the rest is history!
Adam and Ashley decided to move to Oregon with their two dogs and live with two of their close friends. I remember when Adam mentioned it one day on our Sunday evening dinners with the Bowers Fam Bam, we all thought it was a dream, or a joke. Because anyone who knows Adam, knows he can be quite the jester.
**In fact he actually has an award for this. Imagine that HA.
Anyway, each time they talked about Oregon it became more and more of an actual plan. They were looking at house rentals with Kerrick and Anna, telling their jobs they were leaving and making all the arrangements that go along with moving. They literally moved themselves WITH their two dogs WITH most of their belongings in ONE Subaru and ONE overhead compartment and DROOOOVE to Oregon.
Brave is all I can say.
Anyone who can pick up their life and MOVE to a place they have NEVER been and plan a life is seriously the coolest, scariest thing ever. I admire them for having faith enough to follow a calling that was laid on their hearts because the ONLY way a move like that would ever work is if God was on their side.
Back in October of 2019 Adam proposed to Ashley at their favorite garden store. He made a trail for her to follow throughout the outdoor sections of plants and had placed pictures of the two of them with reasons and stories of why he loved her on the back of each.

She obviously said yes, and these two wonderful people get married THIS YEAR in September and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. They deserve all the happiness and joy this world can muster. Plus it gives me an even better reason to go visit the PNW and do all the site seeing and hiking! I love you guys, can’t wait to see you again soon!
